Remissão completa de sinais clínicos neurológicos em cães hipotireoideos tratados com Levotiroxina: revisão sistemática

Abstract

The thyroid is an endocrine gland which produces the hormones thyroxine (tetraiodothyronine) and triiodothyronine that act on the basal metabolism stimulating the growth and development of different organs and systems. In this way, it is important to address the consequences of altering its normal functioning. In the present study, seven articles, written from 2006 to 2016, written in the English language, were selected to assess whether there is a possibility of complete remission of neurological signs and how long this occurs in dogs with hypothyroidism when treated with levothyroxine. It has been found that the drug is capable of producing such an effect over a period of 2 to 4 weeks, but it has become impossible to exclude the possibility of self-limiting lesions or evaluation time being insufficient for it to occur in dogs where it has not been reached
