Abstract

In this study, we pretend to realize a critical analysis of Se a memoria nao me falha, narrative in which Sylvia Orthof ventures into writing herself and her life experiences. We propose an appreciation of the narrative, covering issues such as identity and memory (individual and collective), the latter being an exercise in preservation, recovery and reconstruction of the experiences lived through the memorialistic rescue. We will access theoretical assumptions from Pollak (1992), Klinger (2007), Lejeune (2008) and Xavier (2013) analyzing how, through language, identities are delineated, helping in the construction and maintenance of an individual's history, group or people.
