With the growth and development of the current poultry industry, questions about animal welfare have been debated more frequently. Thus, the objective of this review was verifying the efficacy and welfare provided in the cage free system, in the system with furnished cages and in the method of beak trimming with infrared radiation. The online databases of Pubmed and Scielo were used, and through four search strategies, six papers addressing issues related to the welfare of laying hens under these conditions were selected. Free cage system provides a more natural environment for birds, whereas environments with lower densities and aviaries with floors covered by wire mesh and with access to free - range or external areas showed better productive indexes. The system with enriched cages, in general, showed positive results. The method of beak trimming with infrared radiation showed good productive indexes and better welfare conditions

Diante do crescimento e desenvolvimento da avicultura, questões sobre o bem-estar animal vêm sido debatidas com maior frequência. Assim, o objetivo desta revisão foi verificar a eficácia e o bem-estar animal fornecido às aves no sistema livre de gaiolas, no sistema com gaiolas enriquecidas e no método de debicagem com radiação infravermelha. As bases de dados online da Pubmed e Scielo foram utilizadas, e através de quatro estratégias de busca, seis trabalhos que abordavam aspectos relacionados ao bem-estar de poedeiras nessas condições foram selecionados. O sistema livre de gaiolas fornece um ambiente mais natural às aves, sendo que ambientes com menores densidades e aviários com pisos revestidos por malha de arame e com acesso a áreas externas cobertas ou descobertas apresentaram melhores índices produtivos. O sistema com gaiolas enriquecidas, de forma geral, apresentou resultados positivos. O método de debicagem com radiação infravermelha apresentou bons índices produtivos e melhores condições de bem-estar
