dc.description.abstractWe use the available theoretical and experimental values for the elastic, inelastic and ionization cross-sections of electrons by hydrogen atoms to obtain the total cross-section. The optical theorem and a dispersion relation are used to calculate the forward e-H scattering amplitude for medium and high energies. Using this quantity we test the reliability of the Born expansion for elastic e-H scattering. © 1978 Società Italiana di Fisica.en
