Abstract

This text aims to reflect about the oral and written language learning process in schools, from the concept of utterance, taking as its references these works: The word in life and the word in poetry and Marxism and Philosophy of Language. The reflections considered the studies of those works and covered the units of utterance in its dialectical function: the oral and written utterance of social groups in educational contexts, their verbal and extraverbal units and the totality of the concrete utterance. The role of utterance present in social communication is of high relevance for the human personality formation, which takes place in the social collectivity and carries with it the group's ideas, elaborated in the actions of the subjects from the subjective needs and responsible and responsive replicas in the clash of social emphases. Therefore, it is essential to guide the students teaching-learning process on oral and written language for the comprehension of social signs in a given context; the formation of the I, of subjectivity and of personality is only possible in the intertwining of the we, and the various social voices are present in the utterances worked during this process.
