A presente dissertação “Um olhar sobre a cultura e sociedade em Moçambique: A ficção e a realidade em “Niketche: uma história de Poligamia” pretende realizar uma interpretação de alguns aspectos da realidade da sociedade e cultura contemporânea de Moçambique, especialmente sobre o papel desempenhado pela mulher. Valendo-nos de referências teórico-metodológicas da Sociologia da Literatura e de críticos da literatura africana para realizar o estudo do romance moçambicano Niketche: uma História de Poligamia. A partir dos elementos presentes na narrativa daremos destaque a mulher moçambicana, evidenciando como os períodos de colonização, independência e pós-independência influenciaram na construção das relações de gênero.

The present dissertation “The look at a culture e society in Mozambique: the ficcional and reality in the Niketche: a History of Polygamy” intends to realize an interpretation of some aspects of the reality of the society and culture contemporary of Mozambique, in special about the role performed by the woman. Thus, the study will be conducted on references theoretic-metodology of the sociology of the literature and critic of African literature to prove an analysis of the mozambican romance Niketche: a History of Polygamy. The elements presents in the narrative will be favoring to give prominence the mozambican woman, evidencing in the periods of colonization, independence and afterindependence, had influenced in the construction the relations of gender.
