Este trabalho explora o papel do funk na educação e construção de identidade nas periferias urbanas, com foco nas interações entre professores e alunos de escolas públicas. Partindo da vivência da autora como professora de teatro em uma unidade do CEU e de relatos de alunos que encontram no funk uma representação de suas realidades, o estudo investiga como o gênero musical contribui para o fortalecimento da autoestima e a valorização cultural. Analisam-se, também, as barreiras e preconceitos que o funk enfrenta, especialmente em ambientes escolares, e como ele pode ser utilizado para promover uma educação mais inclusiva e significativa. A pesquisa busca desmistificar estereótipos e enfatizar a importância de valorizar as expressões culturais periféricas no contexto educacional, defendendo que o funk é uma forma de resistência e um espaço de representatividade para os jovens.
Abstract (english)
This paper explores the role of funk music in education and identity construction in urban peripheral areas, focusing on interactions between teachers and students in public schools. Drawing from the author’s experience as theater teacher in a CEU unit and students' accounts of finding their realities represented in funk, this study investigates how this musical genre contributes to self-esteem and cultural appreciation. It also examines the barriers and prejudices funk faces, especially within educational settings, and how it can be used to foster a more inclusive and meaningful education. The research aims to demystify stereotypes and highlight the importance of valuing peripheral cultural expressions in education, arguing that funk serves as both a form of resistance and a space for youth representation.
