Objetivo: Viabilizar a utilização de uma escala para mensurar dor em crianças pré-verbal em Unidade de Terapia Intensiva Pediátrica. Método: Trata-se de uma pesquisa metodológica baseada na técnica de pesquisa-ação onde foi realizado um treinamento sobre a aplicação das escalas Behaviour pain scale e Face,Legs, Actiivity,Cry, Consolability revised, para todos os enfermeiros e 1 técnico de enfermagem deste serviço. O treinamento teve duração de 60 dias, onde foi realizada uma avaliação do conhecimento sobre a aplicação da escala antes e depois do período de treinamento. A partir dos conhecimentos adquiridos ao final do treinamento uma das escalas foi elegida e disponibilizada para uso na rotina da unidade.
Abstract (english)
Objective: To enable the use of a scale to measure pain in pre-verbal children in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Method: This is a methodological research based on the action research technique where training on the application of the Behavior Pain Scale and Face, Legs, Actiivity, Cry, Consolability revised scales was carried out, for all nurses and 1 nursing technician. of this service. The training lasted 60 days, where an assessment of knowledge about the application of the scale was carried out before and after the training period. From the knowledge acquired at the end of the training, one of the scales was chosen and made available for use in the unit's routine. Results: The nurses and the nursing technician were not sure about performing pain assessment in children. They performed the assessment based on parameters such as vital signs, agitation, presence of crying and moaning. With the training of the scales and their applicability, there was a gain in knowledge and standardization in the conduct of nurses and technicians. Between the two scales presented in the training, they chose the FLACCr scale because it has more categories and descriptors, which can be used in intubated and extubated people, in nonverbal age and in larger ones with sedative effect. Product: In view of the results of the study, an Infographic was prepared: Applicability of the FLACCr scale in pre-verbal children hospitalized in intensive care. Conclusion: The nursing team that provides care in evidence-based practices provides safer and more effective care, so the FLACCr scale will be available for the unit's routine.
