Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo geral identificar os elementos que constituem a cultura informacional da Educação Profissional Tecnológica (EPT) Etec Paulo Guerreiro Franco, na cidade de Vera Cruz, estado de São Paulo. Para atingir tal objetivo, foram estabelecidos alguns objetivos específicos: Identificar e caracterizar a cultura informacional, o ambiente informacional e o comportamento informacional no âmbito da instituição; diagnosticar as estratégias informacionais utilizadas na prevenção e combate à evasão escolar; verificar como os gestores utilizam a informação sobre a evasão escolar; averiguar o comportamento informacional da equipe gestora a fim de compreender a maneira como utilizam e valorizam a informação para a otimização de um ambiente informacional favorável ao combate da evasão escolar. Buscou-se verificar se a cultura informacional da unidade propicia um ambiente informacional favorável para combater o fenômeno da evasão. A partir dessa problemática, surgiram indagações no tocante às relações estabelecidas entre a Etec Paulo Guerreiro Franco do Centro Paula Souza (CPS) e seus colaboradores no que tange à gestão da informação no ambiente organizacional e informacional. Salienta-se, também, a atuação do conhecimento como fator determinante no comportamento informacional no ambiente organizacional. O método escolhido foi o estudo de caso proposto por Yin e a análise de dados adotada foi a análise de conteúdo (BARDIN, 1977) por categorias. Para realização das análises, aplicou-se uma entrevista aberta semiestruturada e, também, questionários fechados. Os resultados obtidos sugerem que a unidade de ensino possui uma cultura informacional que pode ser identificada em seu ambiente informacional por meio de ações específicas que demonstram a valorização e uso da informação no sentido de divulgar, compartilhar e criar ações para evitar a perda da vaga e, consequentemente, o aumento da evasão escolar na referida unidade de ensino. A Instituição demonstra não somente a preocupação de manter o aluno no ambiente escolar, mas também de realizar as ações na prática, como, por exemplo, realizar contatos por diferentes meios (telefone, whatsapp, email). Também foi possível verificaro importante papel da direção na atuação direta e indireta de combate à evasão, realizando compartilhamentos de conhecimentos e informações sobre a temática com os diferentes membros da instituição, sejam eles coordenadores de curso, coordenador pedagógico, orientador educacional e docentes.

This study aims to identify the elements that constitute the informational culture in a school unit named Etec Paulo Guerreiro Franco, in Vera Cruz city, state of São Paulo. To achieve this objective, some particular objectives were established, such as to identify and characterize the informational culture, the informational environment as well as the informational behavior within the institution. It was also diagnosed the informational strategies used to prevent and combat school dropout by verifying how information is used by managers in order to understand the way in wich they use and value it to offer an enabling environment for combating school dropout. We sought to verify whether the informational culture of Etec provides a favorable informational environment in order to combat school dropout. From this view, certain questions have been raised concerning relationship between Etec Paulo Guerreiro Franco from Centro Paula Souza (CPS) and its collaborators in relation to information managment in the context of Organization and informational environment. It is also worth mentioning the role of knowledge as a determining factor in informational behavior in the organizational environment.Case study method proposed by Yin was choosen to carried out this research. Data analyses were based on content analysis proposed by Bardin, more specifically, Categorical Data Analysis, using the following instruments to collect survey data: an open semi-structured interview as well as three questionnaire composed of closed questions.The results suggest that the surveyed institution has an informational culture which can be identified in the informational environment by particular that show the value of information actions such as: information dissemination and sharing by actions taken with the goal of avoidind loosing the vacancy and consequently, the increase in school dropout in that unit. The Institution demonstrates not only the concern with keeping students in the school environment, but also carrying out actions such as keeping in touch by making call, using whatsapp or email. It was also possible to verify how important school management is in combating school dropout by carrying out direct and indirect actions to combat school dropout: sharing knowledge and information with different members of the unit, that is, course coordinators, pedagogical coordinator, educational advisor and professors.
