My interest in doing this work arose from Lina Bo Bardi's works in the fields of architecture and industrial design. The impact of the tropics on the European artist almost invariably changes his or her way of being and, consequently, his or her artistic production. With Lina Bo Bardi it was no different. Her transformation was slow, becoming more apparent in her work after her contact and involvement with Bahia. However, her interest in craftscmanship can be traced back to before the Second World War coexists in harmony with her academic background. Paraphrashing Hegel, Lina is a child of her own time, therefore being impossible for her to abstract herself from her time. Her thought and professional activities, her ideals and aspirations were all offspring of her time. The material which served as a basis for this investigation was chosen according to historical and technical criteria. It is based on the selection of several facts and statements about the architect's life and work, from 1947 to 1977. As far as the works referenced and/or analyzed are concerned, they seemed to be sufficient to document and back up the arguments developed throuhghout the text and justify my conclusion
