O acordo ortográfico da língua portuguesa e a meta de simplificação e unificação

The aim of this paper is to evaluate the Acordo Ortográfico da Língua Portuguesa within a historic context that continually demands simplification and unification to the orthographic fixations. The theoretical and methodological orientation is based on the metaorthography and the linguistic historiography directed towards the language orthographic issue. With this focus, a review of the Portuguese language orthographic agreements is done, paying attention not to the details of the several changes, but to the directions that governed all these orthographic agreements, concluding with an evaluation of the historical validity of this new measure.

Abstract (portuguese)

O objetivo deste trabalho é avaliar o novo Acordo Ortográfico da Língua Portuguesa num contexto histórico que invoca as metas de simplificação e unificação nas diversas fixações ortográficas que se sucederam. A orientação teórico-metodológica se assenta na metaortografia e na historiografia linguística direcionada para a questão ortográfica da língua. Com tal foco definido, faz-se uma retrospectiva reflexiva dos acordos ortográficos do português a qual, sem atenção para uma análise de pormenores das diversas mudanças, põe no centro da reflexão os direcionamentos que governaram as tratativas, para que se possa concluir sobre a validade histórica dessa nova medida.
