Abstract
Handicapped, people have been historically not only set apart from sociability but also, they have been rated as not liable people to claim for their rights. They have become invisible not only to the Government eyes, but also to the whole population. However, the social and legal awareness towards handicapped people has risen to better patterns recently. This paper envisions the process of social inclusion for handicapped people considering legal landmarks both in Brazil and abroad. The results imply a raise in awareness worldwide, although this process has still been on a slow pace and it has not been fully enough effective.Governmental policies are mandatory to be deployed. They will enable an inclusive society which can ensure equity and social justice where handicapped people can accomplish a remarkable role likewise any other among the population.
