Mulheres em foco: construções cinematogáficas brasileiras da participação política feminina

A intenção desta dissertação de mestrado é fazer um estudo sobre a maneira pela qual a memória sobre a ditadura militar, especialmente a resistência política feminina, é reconstruída no filme Que bom te ver viva, dirigido por Lúcia Murat e lançado em 1989. Pautando-se por uma perspectiva que se baseia no cruzamento dos estudos de memória com o pensamento feminista, procura-se compreender o filme como manifestação da memória, verificando de que modo os paradoxos e tensões presentes articulam-se na narração da sobrevivência após um período traumático. Utiliza-se como contraponto nas disputas em torno do passado o estudo de algumas sequências do filme O que é isso, Companheiro?, dirigido por Bruno Barreto e lançado em 1997. Tem-se como apoio os debates referentes à representação de gênero no cinema para observar o modo pelo qual as convenções de feminilidade e masculinidade são (re)construídas. Diante disso, observou-se, por um lado, a ênfase nas questões subjetivas que foram silenciadas nos anos de militância no filme de Lúcia Murat; e, por outro, os limites de se manifestar a memória de um período a partir de fórmulas tradicionais de linguagem cinematográfica, como se observa no filme de Bruno Barreto. Por fim, faz-se uma discussão a respeito da necessidade de resgatar as utopias passadas na continuidade da luta pelo não esquecimento.

Abstract (english)

The intention of this thesis is to understand how the memory of the military dictatorship, especially women's political strength, is reconstructed in the movie Que bom te ver viva, directed by Lucia Murat and released in 1989. Using a perspective that pass trough the memory studies and feminist thought, this work try to understand the film as a memory manifestation, checking how the paradoxes and tensions present are articulated in the narrative of survival after a traumatic period. Some sequences of the movie O que é isso, Companheiro?, directed by Bruno Barreto and released in 1997, are studied to show the memories disputes. It has to support the discussions concerning the gender representation in the cinema to watch the way that femininity and masculinity conventions are (re)built. Therefore, there was, first, the focus on subjective questions that were silenced in the militancy years in the Murat’s film, and, secondly, the limits to express the memory of a period from traditional formulas film language, as shown in the Barreto’s film. Finally, it is a discussion about the necessity to rescue the past utopias in the continuing struggle for not forgetting.
