Corpo encanto: afrocentricidade e poéticas do homem negro para invocar humanidades

Nesta pesquisa investigo o ser artista negro a partir dos meus processos de criação e do diálogo com a produção de outros artistas afro-diaspóricos. Interesso-me em compreender de que modo o tornar-se negro incide sobre a produção, circulação e a leitura de produção artística afro-diaspórica dentro das fronteiras do sistema da arte no Brasil, que é regido por valores da branquitude, pelo ideal de artista universal e pela tradição da história da arte ocidental. A investigação se desenvolve por meio da articulação entre biografia, contextos históricos, exposições e análise de obras, tomando a prática artística como campo de elaboração crítica sobre o próprio fazer. No plano epistemológico, adoto o paradigma da Afrocentricidade e a Afronografia, que recentra epistemes africanas como fundamento de análise da experiência negra no continente e fora dele. O objetivo da pesquisa é produzir desenhos, objetos e instalações orientadas por conceitos como Ubuntu, Sankofa e Encanto, enquanto operadores éticos e poéticos nos processos de criação e apresentação das obras. Como resultado, além da experimentação de materiais como argila, parafina e sisal, desenvolvo a série de trabalhos intitulada Macumbações, na qual me aproprio de objetos, ervas e substâncias vinculadas a cosmopercepções Yoruba, Bakongo e Fon. Investigando também, a masculinidade negra, o corpo e as possibilidades de humanização coletiva por meio da prática artística. Nesse percurso, a ritualização dos processos de criação posiciona as obras no limiar entre a captura institucional e a fabulação de futuros, afirmando uma arte da afro-diáspora como horizonte de produção e leitura de outros modos de existência.

In this research, I investigate what it means to be a black artist through my own creative processes and dialogue with the work of other Afro-diasporic artists. I seek to understand how the process of becoming black shapes the production, circulation, and reception of Afrodiasporic artistic practices within the boundaries of the art system in Brazil, a system historically governed by whiteness, the ideal of the universal artist, and the tradition of Western art history. The investigation unfolds through the articulation of biography, historical contexts, exhibitions, and artwork analysis, taking artistic practice itself as a field for critical elaboration on one’s own making. At the epistemological level, I adopt the Afrocentricity paradigm and Afronograpy, which recenters African epistemes as the foundation for analyzing Black experience on the continent and beyond. The objective of the research is to produce drawings, objects, and installations guided by concepts such as Ubuntu, Sankofa and Encanto, as ethical and poetic operators within the processes of creation and presentation of the works. As a result, alongside experimentation with materials such as clay, paraffin, and sisal, I develop a series of work entitled Macumbações, in which I appropriate objects, herbs,and substances linked to Yoruba, Bakongo and Fon cosmoperceptions. The research also investigates Black masculinity, the body, and the possibilities of collective humanization through artistic practice. Along this trajectory, the ritualization of creative processes positions the works at the threshold between institutional capture and the fabulation of futures, affirming afro-diasporic art as a horizon for the production and interpretation of other modes of existence.
