Resumo
The aim of this paper was to present the Mais Educacao (More Education) Program in the State of Sao Paulo by analyzing 631 participating schools between 2010 and 2012 in order to perceive the qualitative impact in state-run schools. To do so we considered such aspects as pass, fail and dropout rates in elementary cycles I and II and in the final grade years of elementary I and II and High School, as well as the Sao Paulo State Development Rates (IDESP) in the final grade years of cycles I and II and High School and the Basic Education Development Rates (IDEB) in the final grade years of elementary cycles I and II. The methodology used to obtain results was to calculate the average from pass, fail and dropout rates that were equal to or above the calculated average of the data reported in the census and the academic performance of students. For IDESP and IDEB we used the variable average of each school between the targets set and achieved over this period based on the data provided by the Educational Information, Monitoring and Assessment Office (Cima) of the Sao Paulo State Education Department in May 2013. From the analysis we found that over 50 % of the analyzed schools improved their rates and decreased failure and dropout rates.
