Abstract

This article analyzes the Brazilian manufacturing industry through structural indicators between 1996 and 2012. It discusses if different sectoral technological features are important to their technical and economic results. Are compared two groups of technologically distinct industries, and three groups of structural indicators: 1. Value added in the production chains; 2. technical and productive efficiency; 3. economic and financial performance. In both types of industries there is the smallest density of the production chain, and a fall in the level of productivity and the increasing of labor efficiency related to the production process. The mark up index, in general, is decreasing for both industries.
