Mudanças na relação cirurgião-dentista/paciente no mundo globalizado

Abstract

O cenário societário contemporâneo, por meio do crescente desenvolvimento tecnológico e da globalização, vem sofrendo profundas transformações, e, essas alterações vêm provocando alterações marcantes no consenso da concepção de saúde em nossa ordem social. Com a globalização da economia e a competitividade, a cada dia mais presente no mercado de trabalho em Odontologia, os Cirurgiões-Dentistas estão passando por um processo marcante de transformação em seus ideais e métodos profissionais, nele incluída a imprescindível necessidade de permanente evolução. Além dos conhecimentos técnicos, o profissional deve empregar gestão rigorosa dos processos internos e maior atenção à relação com o paciente. Com a democratização da informação, passamos a carregar todas as enciclopédias no bolso em nossos smartphones e o monopólio da informação deixou de existir. O cirurgião-dentista não tem mais o monopólio do conhecimento e da informação. O paciente do século XXI é extremamente bem informado, totalmente esclarecido e a cada dia mais exigente e menos tolerante a qualquer evento adverso ou resultado danoso. O paciente do século XXI não aceita mais ser o sujeito passivo na relação com o profissional. Ele quer cooperar. Ele quer ser copartícipe. Ele quer, em parceria com seu cirurgião-dentista, avaliar todas as hipóteses diagnósticas possíveis, para chegar ao tratamento mais adequado, alicerçado no trinômio: custos, riscos e benefícios. Com base no exposto o propósito deste trabalho é refletir sobre as mudanças na relação cirurgião-dentista/paciente no mundo globalizado.

The contemporary societal scenario, through increasing technological development and globalization, has undergone profound transformations, and these changes have provoked marked changes in the consensus of the conception of health in our social order. With the globalization of the economy and competitiveness, increasingly present in the job market in Dentistry, the Dental Surgeons are undergoing a remarkable process of transformation in their ideals and professional methods, including the indispensable need for permanent evolution. In addition to the technical knowledge, the professional should employ strict management of the internal processes and greater attention to the relationship with the patient. With the democratization of information, we started to load all the encyclopedias in the pocket in our smartphones and the information monopoly ceased to exist. The dental surgeon no longer has the monopoly of knowledge and information. The patient of the 21st century is extremely well informed, totally enlightened and increasingly demanding and less tolerant of any adverse event or harmful outcome. The patient of the twenty-first century no longer accepts being the passive subject in relation to the professional. He wants to cooperate. He wants to be a partner. He wants, in partnership with his dentist, to evaluate all the possible diagnostic hypotheses, to arrive at the most appropriate treatment, based on the trinomial: costs, risks and benefits. Based on the above, the purpose of this paper is to reflect on the changes in the relationship between surgeon-dentist and patient in the globalized world.
