Abstract
This paper's goal is to depict Brazilian's environmental technology production sector by means of a field research. Some results have remained unchanged since the 1990's, such as: business segments, clients, stimulating factors and destination market. The prevalence of national firms agrees with evidences from the 2000's. This is not the same for other cases, such as the innovative effort from national firms and the roll of preemptive technologies. Nonetheless, in spite of favoring national firms, the sector's protectionism restricts access to sophisticated external technologies.
