O Teletandem é um programa de intercâmbio virtual que promove a conexão entre pares geograficamente distantes com o objetivo comum de aprendizagem de língua estrangeira. Um dos três princípios fundamentais é o “princípio de reciprocidade”. A partir de Cappellini, Elstermann, e Rivens Mompean (2020) e Moore e Rampazzo (2023), entende-se que a reciprocidade envolve diferentes dimensões, dentre as quais, a alternância de papéis (“tutor” e “aprendiz”). O objetivo desta pesquisa é analisar as relações de reciprocidade entre uma dupla participante do Teletandem e observar se há equilíbrio na distribuição dos papéis, além de sua relação com a língua utilizada nos momentos destacados. Realizou-se um estudo de caso, que analisou a transcrição de três sessões orais de teletandem entre um mesmo par - a primeira, a quarta e a última. A análise compreendeu a identificação e categorização dos momentos em que os participantes agem conforme os papéis assumidos. Os resultados mostram que não houve um equilíbrio na distribuição, e que os papéis não estiveram necessariamente conectados à língua-alvo ou materna dos participantes.
Abstract (english)
Teletandem is a virtual exchange program that fosters connections between geographically distant peers with the shared goal of learning a foreign language. One of the program's three fundamental principles is the "principle of reciprocity." Based on Cappellini, Elstermann, and Rivens Mompean (2020) and Moore and Rampazzo (2023), reciprocity involves different dimensions, including alternating roles ("tutor" and "learner"). The goal of this research is to analyze the reciprocity relationships between a pair participating in Teletandem and to observe whether there is a balance in the distribution of roles, as well as their relationship to the language used in the highlighted moments. A case study methodology was conducted to analyze the transcripts of three teletandem oral sessions between the same pair—the first, the fourth, and the last. The analysis included identifying and categorizing the moments in which the participants act according to their assumed roles. The results show that there was no balance in the distribution of roles, and that they were not necessarily connected to the target or native language of the participants.
