Um leque de coisas fluidas e inquietas: a poética que nasce com Os mortos, de Ivan Junqueira

Este trabalho tem como recorte Os mortos, obra com a qual Ivan Junqueira estreia como poeta, em 1964. Embora tenha conquistado certa sagração institucional, os trabalhos acadêmicos que versam a produção do autor são exíguos, e seu primeiro livro, especificamente, não recebeu ainda qualquer estudo exclusivo em nível de pós-graduação. Diante disso, esta pesquisa busca preencher, ao menos, parte dessa lacuna, investigando o projeto de poesia que começa a se delinear em sua obra inaugural, por meio da análise de três traços constituintes dessa poética nascente: o leque formal, o eu lírico inquieto e os elementos fluidos. A ideia do leque formal diz respeito à diversidade encontrada na constituição formal dos poemas; a do eu lírico inquieto refere-se à forma como será designado o sujeito lírico coeso e unitário do livro que externa desassossego e angústia; já a dos elementos fluidos remete, genericamente, ao elemento aquoso que aparece, com frequência, na obra através de figuras pertencentes ao campo semântico do líquido ou a ele conectadas. Os dois últimos traços funcionam, entrelaçadamente, como fios coesivos e condutores do livro em meio à sua heterogeneidade formal e como operadores dos temas que são mais caros à poesia junqueiriana, como a morte, a memória, a infância, a perda e a própria poesia. Essas são, em princípio, as hipóteses deste trabalho, que, para verificá-las, se dividirá em três partes. Na primeira, serão estudados as heranças e o contexto da poesia junqueiriana, começando pela poesia moderna, com Friedrich (1991); passando pelo Simbolismo e pelo Expressionismo, com Balakian (1985) e os ensaios organizados por Guinsburg (2002); e encerrando na Geração-60 da poesia brasileira, com Stegagno-Picchio (2004) e Lyra (1995). Na segunda parte, serão examinadas algumas informações sobre Os mortos trazidas pelo próprio poeta e algumas críticas que miravam a obra na época de sua publicação, como as de Lemos (2005), Py (2005a), Ayala (1964) e, de certa forma, Louzeiro em entrevista sua com Junqueira (1964b). Por fim, a terceira parte será dedicada à análise e interpretação de alguns poemas do livro em questão. Permeando a pesquisa, aparecerão ainda a dissertação de Thomé (1995) e a tese de Pasche (2014), que abordam a poesia junqueiriana, bem como vários outros textos críticos sobre Junqueira que se encontram coligidos em sua Poesia reunida (2005a). O objetivo desta pesquisa, ao fim, é averiguar se e como o leque formal, o eu lírico inquieto e os elementos fluidos de Os mortos impactam, de fato, a construção da poética nascente de Ivan Junqueira e fazem do livro uma obra em que se buscam a poesia e, ao mesmo tempo, os meios para expressá-la

This work focuses on Os mortos, the work with which Ivan Junqueira debuted as a poet in 1964. Although it has achieved a certain institutional recognition, academic works dealing with the author’s production are scarce, and his first book, specifically, has not yet been the subject of any exclusive study at the postgraduate level. Therefore, this research seeks to fill at least part of this gap by investigating the project of poetry that begins to take shape in his inaugural work, through the analysis of three constituent features of this nascent poetics: the formal range, the restless lyrical self, and the fluid elements. The idea of formal range refers to the diversity found in the formal constitution of the poems; the restless lyrical self refers to the way in which the cohesive and unitary lyrical subject of the book, who expresses restlessness and anguish, will be designated; while the notion of fluid elements refers, generically, to the watery element that frequently appears in the work through figures belonging to or connected to the semantic field of liquid. The last two features function, intertwined, as cohesive and guiding threads of the book amid its formal heterogeneity and as operators of the themes that are most dear to Junqueira’s poetry, such as death, memory, childhood, loss, and poetry itself. These are, in principle, the hypotheses of this work, which, to verify them, will be divided into three parts. In the first part, the inheritances and context of Junqueira’s poetry will be studied, beginning with modern poetry, with Friedrich (1991); moving on to Symbolism and Expressionism, with Balakian (1985) and the essays organized by Guinsburg (2002); and concluding with the 60s-Generation of Brazilian poetry, with Stegagno-Picchio (2004) and Lyra (1995). In the second part, some information about Os mortos provided by the poet himself will be examined, as well as some critiques that targeted the work at the time of its publication, such as those by Lemos (2005), Py (2005a), Ayala (1964), and, to a certain extent, Louzeiro in his interview with Junqueira (1964b). Finally, the third part will be devoted to the analysis and interpretation of some poems from the book in question. Throughout the research, Thomé’s dissertation (1995) and Pasche’s thesis (2014), which address Junqueira’s poetry, will also appear, as well as several other critical texts on Junqueira collected in his Poesia reunida (2005a). Ultimately, the objective of this research is to ascertain whether and how the formal range, the restless lyrical self, and the fluid elements of Os mortos actually impact the construction of Ivan Junqueira’s nascent poetics and make the book a work that seeks both poetry and the means to express it
