Resumo
The artesian fishing in Brazil is distinguished by diversity and complexity of subjects, environments, fished, boats, fishing techniques and arts, as well as by the communities lifestyle. But is also a sector which is, historically, passing through a lack of commitment about the studies and statistic data, lack of effective public policies, continuing conflicts, challenges and obstacles regarding to the fishermen's work and lifestyle (these problems are originated from property speculation, tourism, industrial fishing, among others). Taking all of this into considerations, this work aims, even if in a brief way, discussing and reflecting on the recent process of legal recognition of fishermen, which pass by the New Fishing Law and the creation of the Fishing and Aquaculture Ministry in Brazil in 2009. Even though, the text displays the tough reality that involves these institutional and political issues and the fishermen, including the recent violation measures of rights and recent MPA dissolution in October of 2015. Furthermore, the article describes some strategies of fighting and resistance of these fishermen for their social, political, labor and property rights.
