Abstract

Understanding the role of the state in the Vargas period (1930-1945) with respect to the control of the revolutionary unions and the emergence of official unions linked to the corporatist power project. Despite the presence of numerous works on this particular period, is still in its infancy those that use a geographical analysis methodology, able to demonstrate the territorial base of the trade unions, still seen by many quite naturalized way, as an important strategy fight against capital and the state. This union model gestated in an authoritarian manner is still very present in the country and determines a fragmented territorial action of these entities, hindering the emergence of large strike movements such as general strikes.
