O duplo na perspectiva da literatura fantástica: em contos de José María Merino

Abstract

O duplo passou a ser utilizado como tema literário a partir do século XVIII com o Romantismo e o Doppelgänger do escritor alemão Jean Paul. A partir dessa primeira incidência, surgiram várias outras formas de manifestação que chegaram a ultrapassar os limites da literatura, o que proporcionou um aumento gradativo de estudos com o propósito de se estudar a riqueza proveniente desse tema. Este trabalho é o produto final de uma pesquisa que teve como objetivo principal investigar o duplo e suas manifestações, tendo como princípio teórico norteador o gênero fantástico na obra de José María Merino (1941-), escritor de grande importância para ascensão e consolidação desse gênero em território espanhol. Para o estudo do tema na obra do escritor, foram selecionadas três narrativas: “Zarasia, la maga” (1982), “El desertor” (1982) e “El fumador que acecha” (2004), que foram escolhidas por apresentarem de forma inciva diversidade na abordagem do tema. Para realizar a análise das três narrativas escolhidas, foram desenvolvidos estudos a respeito do duplo e do gênero fantástico elaborados tendo como base teórica reflexões de estudiosos como David Roas, Juan Herrero Cecilia, Rebeca Martín López. Ao compor a análise, recorremos ainda a subsídios da psicanálise em obras de Otto Rank, Sigmund Freud e Carl Gustav Jung. A respeito dos resultados obtidos, podemos ressaltar uma diversidade na abordagem do tema por parte do autor, com a maior incidência de um duplo subjetivo interligado à consciência dos personagens principais, afetando de forma direta o andamento das narrativas. Todos esses aspectos destacam ainda mais a versatilidade de um tema que se relaciona de forma intrínseca ao gênero fantástico.

The double began to be used as a literary theme from the 18th century with the Romanticism and the Doppelgänger of the German writer Jean Paul. From that first incident, several other forms of manifestation emerged. In fact, they went beyond the limits of literature, which provided a gradual increase of studies with the purpose of analyzing the wealth resulting from this theme. This work is the final product of a research which main objective was to investigate the double and its manifestations. The guiding theoretical principle was the fantastic genre in the work of José María Merino (1941-), a writer of great importance for the ascension and consolidation of this genre in Spanish territory. For the study of the theme in the writer’s work, three narratives were selected: Zarasia, la maga (1982), El desertor (1982) and El fumador que acecha (2004). In order to carry out the analysis of the three chosen narratives, studies were developed on the theme of the double and on the fantastic genre. By the way, these studies were based on the theoretical reflections of scholars such as David Roas, Juan Herrero Cecilia, and Rebeca Martín López. In composing the analysis, we also resort to psychoanalysis subsidies from specialists in the field, such as Otto Rank, Sigmund Freud, and Carl Gustav Jung. Regarding the results that were obtained during the development of this research, we can highlight the different ways of approaching the theme that are constructed by the Spanish author, with the incidence of a sujective double linked to the consciousness of the main characters, affecting directly the progress of the narratives. All these aspects which further demonstrates the versatility of a theme that is closely linked to the fantastic genre.
