Bassani entre o corpo e o esquecimento: o papel da memória em o Jardim dos Finzi-Contini

Abstract

O romance de Giorgio Bassani fundamenta-se, segundo a crítica, em uma busca constante de reconstruir, pela crítica, o passado histórico a fim de compreender a sociedade que o formou. Em suas obras, o passado histórico é revisitado, elém disso, Ferrara, a cidade de sua infância e juventude, fornece a especialização para o desenrolar de suas obras. Desta temática, surgem duas possibilidades: fatos históricos recriados pelo viés da ficção e espaços reais transformados em telas ficcionais. Em cada uma dessas possibilidades, reside um elemento que não se encaixa perfeitamente, do insólito, o qual brota a necessidade do narrar. O escritor, judeu, elegerá a marca religiosa e o estigma a ela atribuído para formar personagens densos e complexos que estão sempre retornando, pela memória, a situações pontuais do passado. Nesta lógica, a temática da memória estará presente ao longo de toda a sua obra e, a partir dela, realizar-se-á a compreensão do passado. Desse modo, o presente trabalho pautar-se-á pelo papel da memória no romance O jardim dos Finzi Contini, obra máxima do escritor, a qual, em pleno século XXI, ainda tem sido pouco estudada no Brasil. Para compreender o papel edificante da memória, o trabalho seguiu um cronograma específico, inicialmente a partir da leitura e do fichamento do texto literário, e da seleção dos pontos essenciais para o desenvolvimento da tese. Feito isso, foram selecionados os subsídios teóricos para fundamentar a análise proposta. Desta feita, as relações, a importância do espaço, a função do narrador no romance contemporâneo, a espacialidade da casa, a memória e, por fim, o trauma foram pensados e compreendidos e, finalmente, construíram o texto que se segue. O presente trabalho apresenta, em sua construção, uma breve bibliografia do autor e a análise da obra pela perspectiva da voz, do espaço e do corpo. Tais itens são essenciais para despertar o processo de reconstrução, por meio da memória, de um passado que não pode jamais ser esquecido

In each of these possibilities, an element that does not fit perfectly resides; from the unusual, the need to narrate arises. The writer, who is Jewish, chooses the religious mark and the stigma attributed to it to form dense and complex characters that are always returning, through memory, to specific situations from the past. In this logic, the theme of memory is present throughout his work, and from it, the understanding of the past. This work is based on the role of memory in Giorgio Bassani's novel, "The Garden of the Finzi-Continis," his most significant work and still little studied in Brazil in the 21st century. To understand the edifying role of memory, a specific schedule was followed, including reading and summarizing the literary text, selecting essential points for the development of the thesis, and seeking theoretical support to substantiate the proposed analysis. In this way, social relationships, the importance of space, the function of the narrator in contemporary fiction, the spatiality of the house, memory, and trauma were considered and understood, ultimately constructing the text presented here. This work presents, in its construction, a brief bibliography of the author and an analysis of the work from the perspective of voice, space, and body. These items are essential to awaken the process of reconstruction, through memory, of a past that can never be forgotten
