Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze the novel Agua Funda by Ruth Guimaraes and verify its integration in the Regionalist literature. The studies about regionalism were carried out based on Candido (1987) and Barbosa (1983), in order to qualify the work of Guimaraes (2018) within the Brazilian regionalism. Basing on Benjamin (1994), an analysis was made about the storyteller of the novel, and for the analysis of the Agua Funda speech, which relies on aspects of nature, it was verified, in the light of Bachelard (2002) and Durand (2002) how the symbologies of water contributed to the diegetic universe of the novel.
