Descrição

This database belongs to research that aimed to verify if the color and age of an artifact influence its usability in controlled activities. As a secondary aim, age was also considered in the statistical analysis once aging promotes changes in the visual system and cognitive and motor activities and is a recognized variable on usability tests. For this purpose, we selected two everyday artifacts of domestic use, specifically one garlic peeler model and one potato masher, available in the market in gray, green, and red colors. We used a digital form adapted from the SUS - System Usability Scale Score (Brooke, 1996) (self-report) and the FaceReader™ 7 (Noldus) (facial microexpressions – emotional responses) to evaluate usability and a Preference Scale so that the participants can order the products according to their preference - 1 (less preference) to 3 (the most preferred) - considering the participants’ experience of use. In the data gathering, a hundred twenty female participants (n = 120) participated in the current research, without musculoskeletal symptoms in the upper limbs in the twelve months preceding the experiment and pathologies in the visual or nervous system that could alter color perception (e. g., color-blindness), distributed into two age groups: 18–29 years (younger adult) and 30–55 years (middle-aged adult). The sample stratification considered the findings of Teixeira (2006), West et al. (2012), and Barbieri et al. (2014). The results were analyzed using parametric and nonparametric statistics.
