Abstract (portuguese)

Infância e a adolescência são duas fases importantes no desenvolvimento de hábitos de vida saudáveis, que são carregados para fase adulta. Objetivo: Verificar a eficácia de doze semanas de dois tipos de atividades físicas por meio de modalidades esportivas, judô e ball games (futebol, voleibol, handebol e basquetebol) na qualidade de sono e vida de crianças e adolescentes brasileiros. Métodos: Ensaio clínico randomizado, foi realizado com 85 participantes de ambos os sexos, entre 07 a 15 anos em uma instituição filantrópica de Presidente Prudente - SP. As variáveis investigadas foram a qualidade de sono e vida, por meio dos questionários mini-sleep questionnaire e KidsCreen-52, respectivamente, e as modalidades trabalhadas foram o judô e o ball games. Na análise estatística foi utilizado a Análise de Variância (ANOVA) para medidas repetidas e o nível de significância estatística utilizado foi de 5%. Resultados: Após três meses de treinamento houve significância em relação ao tempo que dormem (P-value=0,007) e um aumento em várias dimensões no questionário de qualidade de vida. Conclusão: Conclui-se que tanto o judô quanto o ball games trouxeram benefícios para qualidade do sono e vida de crianças e adolescentes.

Abstract (english)

Childhood and adolescence are two important phases in the development of healthy lifestyle habits, which are carried over into adulthood. Objective: To verify the effectiveness of two types of physical activities through sports, judo and ball games (soccer, volleyball, handball and basketball) in the quality of sleep and life of Brazilian children and adolescents. Methods: The study is a randomized clinical trial, conducted with 85 participants of both sexes, between 07 and 15 years old in a philanthropic institution in Presidente Prudente - SP. The variables investigated were the quality of sleep and life, using the mini-sleep questionnare and KidsCreen-52 questionnaires, respectively, and the modalities used were judo and ball games. In the statistical analysis, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) for repeated measures was used and the level of statistical significance used was 5%. Results: After three months of training, there was significance in relation to the time they sleep (P-value = 0.007) and an increase in several dimensions in the quality of life questionnaire. Conclusion: It is concluded that both judo and ball games brought benefits to the quality of sleep and life of children and adolescents.
