Abstract

As long-term insect mass rearing process can affect behavior of egg parasitoid, a 4-way olfactometer was used to evaluate T. remus attraction to S. frugiperda eggs at different embryonic development stages (24, 48 e 72 h) and adult females volatiles. T. remus females were tested for each odour source. Each insect was observed during 600 seconds and the time spent on each odour's site was recorded. The egg parasitoid female was atracted to S. frugiperda females and eggs. Different egg developmental stages were similarly atractive to T. remus. However, hexane-washed eggs did not cause any attraction. Therefore, cairomones are still perceived by this natural enemy despite being in mass rearing facility © 2006, Sociedad Venezolana de Entomología.
