Instruments and policies for the preservation of municipal cultural heritage: a study in Ourinhos and Palmital (São Paulo) - 2003 to 2022

Resumo
The text discloses the instruments for recognizing cultural heritage in Ourinhos and Palmital and discusses the current condition of public preservation policies in these municipalities in the state of Sao Paulo. For this, it uses the method of documental research and bibliographic review. The search for data was carried out in an online collection made available on the Transparency Portals of the Municipalities and Digital Platforms of the Municipal Chambers of Ourinhos and Palmital, with the documents dated between 2003 and 2022. There is a lack of legislation and/or its ineffectiveness in enabling public policies within the investigated sector, especially regarding recognizing and preserving intangible cultural heritage. The evidence demonstrates the importance of reviewing and updating municipal public policies in valuing Brazil's cultural heritage, a right provided for in the Federal Constitution of 1988.
