Resumo
Some species of Cryptosporidium negatively affect animal production, with a high rate of infection, especially among young animals, resulting in the destruction and atrophy of the intestinal microvilli, with consequent decreased absorption of nutrients, leading to diarrhea, a sharp drop in productivity and even mortality. Reports of infections in goats are arranged in chronological order, categorized according to gender, type, subtype, and location (country) of description. The treatment of cryptosporidiosis in both animals and humans is based on direct intervention on the signs and symptoms. The control of water transmission of Cryptosporidium can be performed by preventing the pollution of rivers with human and animal feces, interrupting the propagation of this and other parasitic agents to drinking water.
