Resumo
Being in charge of public programs provides political mediators with resources that may give them political prominence – as pointed out in the literature. However, my goal in this article is to show how power can also bring disqualification, by allowing accusations as a way to control the political powers and undermine prominent leaderships. Thus, I tried to keep up with the way political clashes worked in the execution of a public program, depicting the mediators’ activities during the process. Being at the most distinguished position as a mediator would require the power to control the surrounding opinions, bringing up doubts that are not always verifiable. Honor and dishonor would consist in succeeding or not in controlling the doubt spread among political behaviors.
