Entre 1990 e 2025, o Brasil passou por importantes transformações, entre as quais destacam-se o aprofundamento do neoliberalismo, a aprovação da Lei nº 13.467 de 2017, conhecida também como Reforma Trabalhista, a qual foi responsável por remodelar diversos pontos da Consolidação das Leis do Trabalho (CLT). Dentre as principais alterações encontram-se o fim da contribuição sindical obrigatória, a prevalência do negociado sobre o legislado e a aprovação de diversas modalidades de contratos laborais. Com a implementação dessas mudanças, verificou-se um desmonte da figura estatal, como também das organizações defensoras dos trabalhadores, tal qual o sindicato. Assim, o objetivo central deste trabalho é analisar os fatores que levaram os sindicatos a perderem o destaque na defesa dos trabalhadores, tornando-se figuras de menor posição e maior polarização no período de 1990 a 2025. Para isso, foi empregada uma pesquisa descritiva e qualitativa a partir da literatura disponibilizada pelas plataformas digitais acadêmicas, utilizando-se filtros para localizar os documentos, desse modo, obteve-se um total bruto de noventa e cinco trabalhos que foram lapidados, com apoio da inteligência artificial, para quarenta a serem estudados. Após a leitura dos materiais, verificou-se como se deu a instalação do neoliberalismo no Brasil, o motivo pelo qual os trabalhadores defendem a desregulamentação das relações laborais, bem como compreender a história e o desenvolvimento dos sindicatos. Dessa forma, foi possível constatar que o declínio sindical não ocorreu por um único fator, mas pela convergência entre a consolidação neoliberal, flexibilização das relações laborais, a ampliação das formas de contratação, a fragmentação da identidade coletiva dos trabalhadores e o enfraquecimento da representação sindical.

Between 1990 and 2025, Brazil underwent significant transformations, among which the deepening of neoliberalism and the enactment of Law No. 13,467/2017, also known as the Labor Reform, stand out. This legislation reshaped several provisions of the Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT). Among its main changes were the abolition of mandatory union dues, the prevalence of negotiated agreements over statutory labor legislation, and the approval of several new forms of employment contracts. The implementation of these measures led to the weakening of the State's role, as well as of institutions responsible for defending workers' rights, particularly labor unions. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to analyze the factors that led labor unions to lose prominence in defending workers' interests, becoming less influential and increasingly polarized between 1990 and 2025. To achieve this objective, a descriptive and qualitative study was conducted based on literature available in academic digital databases. Filters were applied to identify relevant publications, resulting in an initial sample of ninety-five studies, which, with the support of artificial intelligence, were refined to forty articles for analysis. The analysis of these studies made it possible to understand the process of neoliberal implementation in Brazil, the reasons why workers have supported the deregulation of labor relations, as well as the historical development of labor unions. The findings indicate that the decline of trade unionism cannot be attributed to a single factor, but rather to the convergence of neoliberal consolidation, labor market flexibilization, the expansion of alternative forms of employment, the fragmentation of workers' collective identity, and the weakening of union representation.
