Construídos originalmente para o público masculino, os estabelecimentos prisionais existentes no país não estão preparados para atender as necessidades das mulheres infratoras, que, nos últimos anos, passaram a ocupar de forma ostensiva tais espaços. As prisões são uma das principais expressões da violação de direitos, afetando de maneira muito mais intensa a população prisional feminina, principalmente no tocante à maternidade. Mulheres que são mães privadas de sua liberdade constantemente têm seus direitos violados, sendo vítimas das mais diversas manifestações de violência, dentre elas a obstétrica. Neste sentido, o presente trabalho, através de uma revisão bibliográfica, busca apresentar as mais diversas manifestações da violência obstétrica no cárcere, bem como elencar os principais instrumentos legais de proteção à mãe encarcerada.

Built originally for the male population, existing correctional institutions in Brazil are not prepared to attend to the needs of female offenders who in the last years have come to occupy such spaces ostensibly. Prisons have been turned into one of the main means of expression of rights violations. Such violations have a much greater effect on the female populations of these facilities, primarily when related to motherhood. Incarcerated mothers have their rights violated and are constant victims of the most diverse forms of violence, among them, obstetric violence. With this in mind, the present work seeks to present through a bibliographical review, the several manifestations of obstetric violence in prison, as well as list the legal instruments for the protection of the incarcerated mother.
