Abstract

Children's literature contributes to the psychic formation of the child, so providing the meeting of the little ones with the literary book object becomes a fundamental right of childhood. Currently, we have at our disposal a diversity of works produced by different authors. Many of these are examples of intertextual texts produced from classical narratives. It is interesting to observe the social transformations that occurred in these stories that are told over time, in the most different places and by different writers. This is what happens in the illustrated book A Little Red Riding Hood written and illustrated by the French Marlonaine Leray. Knowing this narrative led us to produce the present article, whose objective is to analyze the female representation in the work Uma Little Red Riding Hood. We analyzed both the verbal and non-verbal elements of the work and the results point to a transformation in the way of representing the female figure. If before, in the classic versions, we had a fragile girl in need of male protection, now the roles are reversed and Leray presents us with a decisive, strong, courageous and astute character, capable of overcoming her problems on her own.
