A voz e o silêncio no Teatro de Tadashi Suzuki

A presente pesquisa investiga a voz e o silêncio no Teatro de Tadashi Suzuki através da análise da individualidade e materialidade da voz e do elemento cultural japonês MA 間, compreendendo este como espaço de conexão, possibilidade e ressonância. No eixo da pesquisa, o objeto de investigação é o Teatro de Tadashi Suzuki, que une o teatro tradicional japonês ao contemporâneo, tendo como enfoque a filosofia, o espaço teatral, o Método de treinamento para Atores e seus espetáculos, destacando o uso peculiar da materialidade da voz e todas as formas de pausa, duração, entre-espaço e silêncio representados pelo MA. A pesquisa conecta o pensamento de Adriana Cavarero, Mladen Dolar e Paul Zumthor sobre voz com o trabalho de Tadashi Suzuki e também as pesquisas sobre "MA" de Michiko Okano, Masakatsu Fujita e Yoshi Oida, revelando uma nova interpretação do silêncio/pausa/vazio como um espaço que abre caminho para a presença do outro, bem como uma nova conexão tanto física quanto abstrata. O estudo redefine a obra teatral, explorando os vazios e pausas como elementos que ampliam a perspectiva e a relação entre palco e plateia.

Abstract (portuguese)

This research investigates voice and silence in Tadashi Suzuki's Theater through an analysis of the individuality and materiality of the voice and the Japanese cultural element MA 間, understanding it as a space of connection, possibility, and resonance. In the research framework, the object of investigation is Tadashi Suzuki's Theater, which bridges traditional Japanese theater with the contemporary, focusing on philosophy, theatrical space, the Actor Training Method, and his performances, highlighting the unique use of the materiality of the voice and all forms of pause, duration, in-between space, and silence represented by MA. The research connects the thoughts of Adriana Cavarero, Mladen Dolar, and Paul Zumthor on voice with the work of Tadashi Suzuki and also the research on "MA" by Michiko Okano, Masakatsu Fujita, and Yoshi Oida, revealing a new interpretation of silence/pause/void as a space that paves the way for the presence of the other, as well as a new physical and abstract connection. The study redefines theatrical work, exploring gaps and pauses as elements that broaden the perspective and the relationship between the stage and the audience.
