Resumo
The present article discusses the relations between the memory of the working class and the urban space in the formation of the Workers Association of the Mooca District, which was founded by the unions and the housing movement in the city of Sao Paulo in the 70s. The district's former industrial sites underwent significant changes after being transformed by real estate, service and commerce, and heritage practices. Nevertheless, the areas of the memory of the formation of the Association, when reconstructed by the workers in the production of a documentary, overcome the dichotomy between the recollection of the sites and their localized memory and articulate the timelines involved in the evolution and (dis)engagement of their uses and urban forms, therefore emerging as an absent presence in the neighborhood.
