Resumo

The global initiative for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and optimizing energy consumption has led the oil and gas industry to actively seek alternatives to address these challenges. Proposed solutions include integrating alternative energy sources, implementing energy storage systems, and improving motor efficiency through Adjustable Speed Drives. This paper proposes a coordinated control using Active Front End Adjustable Speed Drives (AFE-ASDs) in operational scenarios of an Oil and Gas Floating, Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) platform. The evaluated coordinated control methodology is based on the Conservative Power Theory, aiming to derive the current terms to mitigate reactive power, harmonic distortion, and unbalance by exploiting the power availability of distributed AFE-ASDs. The analysis evaluates the methodology's performance across various operational scenarios, with different combinations of switching keys within medium-voltage circuits. Results were obtained through computational simulations conducted using MATLAB/Simulink, with the electrical system of an FPSO platform carefully modeled, where a reduction of 10% of the absolute voltage variation was achieved during a direct motor start.
