Resumo
In 2014, it's celebrated the centenary of José Cwndido de Carvalho's birth (1914-1989), a Brazilian writer, and the fiftieth anniversary of the publication of his famous novel, The Colonel and the Werewolf, published in 1964. As a way to honour José Cândido and his main novel, this article reconstructs a scenery of the author's literary production, highlighting especially the circumstances of creation of his novel. To this end, it's presented the results obtained through a research in periodicals of the time, which allowed the discovery of chronicles that preceded the novel's content.
