Resumo
Took place in Portugal from 1890 to 1893 an intense literary movement under the influence of decadent-symbolist aesthetic that emanetes from France since the previous decade. It can be said that writers and Brazilian journalists expressed little interest in the Portuguese decadentism-symbolism. However, foreign correspondents as Xavier de Carvalho e Pinheiro Chagas, from O Pais, Fialho de Almeida, from Jornal do Brasil, e Maria Amelia Vaz de Carvalho, from Jomal do Comercio have made a fundamental contribution to the diffusion in Brazil of decadent-symbolist ideas. It is intended in this article, synthetically, list the authors and works divulged by these journalists and speedy the way in which the decadentism-symbolism began to be issued in the country of Cruz e Sousa.
