Resumo
Enuresis affects up to 20% of children of 5 years old, enuretic children present arginine vasopressin secretion deficiency, compared to normal children. To keep the level of antidiuretic hormone in the body, the aim of this work was to develop natural rubber latex membranes loaded with desmopressin peptide and characterize its in vitro release. Results demonstrated that 60% of desmopressin incorporated in natural latex was released up to 96 h. Furthermore, hemolysis tests showed no detectable disturbance of the red blood cell membranes. Based on the results, it was possible to conclude that natural latex membranes are able to load desmopressin.
