Larval morphology in Ololygon Fitzinger, 1843 was investigated from a comparative and phylogenetic perspective, integrating external morphology, buccopharyngeal cavity, visceral anatomy, musculature, larval skeleton, discrete characters, and geometric morphometrics. This dissertation aimed to evaluate the historical origin of the bromeligenous larval phenotype, describe the larval morphology of O. feioi and Ololygon sp. 8, and analyze broader patterns of larval diversification in the genus. The analyses indicate that the obligate bromeligenous phenotype of the clade formed by the O. belloni and O. perpusilla groups did not originate through an abrupt reorganization of larval shape, but from an ancestral configuration already close to the bromeligenous condition, subsequently modified mainly by body elongation and rounding of the caudal terminus. Adult use of bromeliads did not explain morphological proximity to the obligate bromeligenous larval phenotype, indicating that larval bromeligeny depended on the historical association between phytotelm development and larval forms already compatible with this environment. The description of O. feioi and Ololygon sp. 8 revealed shared characters that support recognition of the O. feioi group, especially the broad dark band on the posterior half of the tail, interpreted here as a possible synapomorphy of the group. Differences between the two species were concentrated in the oral disc and buccopharyngeal cavity, whereas the skeleton, visceral anatomy, and most of the musculature were more conservative. At a broader scale, discrete characters and the phylomorphospace show that Ololygon has a larval phenotype distinct from the sampled outgroups, but internally diversified. This diversification does not strictly follow species groups or form discrete ecomorphological categories. Larval evolution in the genus was marked by the persistence of a low-profile benthic body plan, modified in different anatomical and ecological directions, including substrate adhesion, occupation of shallow and marginal environments, greater development of caudal fins, and development in bromeliads. Thus, larval diversity in Ololygon results from the recurrent modification of specific anatomical systems within a conserved morphological framework.
