Abstract
Abstract (portuguese)
Atualmente, a endometrite equina é responsável por prejudicar a saúde
reprodutiva de matrizes, doadoras e receptoras, causando relevantes
perdas embrionárias e retorno precoce ao cio. Ademais, é responsável por
significativos gastos econômicos com diferentes exames, procedimentos
terapêuticos e tentativas frustradas de reproduzir éguas que apresentam tal
patologia. A identificação de animais problema, a compreensão dos
processos patológicos, o manejo reprodutivo e os cuidados necessários em
casos de endometrite também são grandes desafios para o médico
veterinário de reprodução equina, especialmente no que diz respeito ao
trabalha a campo, ressaltando ainda mais a importância de se atentar para
essa condição. Sabe-se que, no geral, éguas apresentam uma inflamação
fisiológica após cobertura ou inseminação artificial, porém, esse estado
pode evoluir tornando-se patológico. Além do processo inflamatório,
agentes infecciosos podem estar envolvidos, acarretando ainda mais
adversidades ao se lidar com essa afecção. O presente trabalho realiza um
levantamento bibliográfico com a finalidade de explorar a fisiopatologia da
endometrite, suas principais causas e características, bem como processos
diagnósticos e terapêuticos, sendo esse conhecimento a chave para
enfrentar os desafios que envolvem tal doença na reprodução equina.
Abstract (english)
Currently, equine endometritis is responsible for harming the reproductive
health of matrix mares, donors and recipients, causing significant embryonic
losses and early return to estrus. Furthermore, it is responsible for
significant economic expenses with different exams, therapeutic procedures
and frustrated attempts to reproduce mares that present this pathology. The
identification of problem animals, the understanding of the pathological
processes, the reproductive management and the necessary care in cases
of endometritis are also great challenges for the equine reproduction
veterinarian, especially concerning the fieldwork, emphasizing even more
the importance of a careful observation of this condition. It is known that, in
general, mares present physiological inflammation after mating or artificial
insemination, however, this state can evolve, becoming pathological.
Besides the inflammatory process, infectious agents may be involved,
causing even more adversity when dealing with this affection. The present
work carries out a bibliographic survey in order to explore the
pathophysiology of endometritis, its main causes and characteristics, as well
as diagnostic and therapeutic processes, being this knowledge the key to
face the challenges that involve this disease in equine reproduction.
