Hepatite B e o autocuidado em saúde: o dimensionamento do saber na odontologia

Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the knowledge of dentistry students about the topic of hepatitis B and to verify their vaccination coverage against the virus. This is a descriptive cross-sectional quantitative study. A total of 71 academics from the 5th grade School of Dentistry of Araçatuba (FOA) - SP, Brazil, participated in the study in the year 2016. The collection instrument used was a semi-structured questionnaire that dealt with hepatitis B and its immunization. It was approved by the research ethics committee of the Faculty of Dentistry of Araçatuba (Process nº 632.067) and for the statistical analysis the software Epi Info 7.1 was used. Of the total number of respondents, 67% were female. When questioned about the knowledge of the disease, 88.73% affirmed the question, and of this total percentage, 92.06% obtained information within the classroom. When inquiring about the cause of hepatitis B, 7.05% of the students did not answer or did not answer the question. Regarding the number of doses of the vaccine against HBV, 16.90% of the students missed the question and 60.57% of the students did not know about the Anti-HBs test. Of the interviewees, 95.77% took the vaccine, and 60.29% took all three doses of the vaccine. Regarding the Anti-Hbs test, 56.34% of the students in the study were immunized. It is concluded that the knowledge of the academics on the topic hepatitis B still presents a fault, requiring discussion and resumption of content in the clinical disciplines. In addition, there was a worrying percentage, with almost half of non-immunized dentists being immunized against hepatitis B virus

O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o conhecimento dos acadêmicos em Odontologia sobre o tema hepatite B e verificar sua cobertura vacinal contra o vírus. Trata- se de um estudo descritivo de caráter transversal quantitativo. Participaram da pesquisa 71 acadêmicos do 5º ano da Faculdade de Odontologia de Araçatuba (FOA) - SP, no ano de 2016. O instrumento de coleta utilizado foi um questionário semiestruturado que versava sobre a hepatite B e sua imunização. Foi aprovado pelo comitê de ética em pesquisa da Faculdade de Odontologia de Araçatuba (Processo nº 632.067) e para a análise estatística utilizou - se o software Epi Info 7.1. Do total de pesquisados, 67% correspondiam ao sexo feminino. Quando questionados sobre o conhecimento da doença, 88,73% afirmaram à interrogativa, sendo que desse percentual total, 92,06% obtiveram a informação dentro da sala de aula. Ao inquerir sobre a causa da hepatite B, 7,05% dos alunos não acertaram ou não responderam a questão. Já com relação ao número de doses da vacina contra o VHB, 16,90% dos alunos erraram a interrogativa e 60,57% dos mesmos não sabiam sobre o teste Anti-Hbs. Dos entrevistados, 95,77% tomaram a vacina, sendo que 60,29% tomaram as três doses da vacina. Em relação ao teste Anti-Hbs, verificou-se que do total de participantes do estudo, 56,34% dos alunos estavam imunizados. Conclui - se que o conhecimento dos acadêmicos sobre o tema hepatite B ainda apresenta falha, necessitando de discussões e retomada do conteúdo nas disciplinas clínicas. Além disso, verificou-se uma porcentagem preocupante, sendo quase metade de graduandos em odontologia, não imunizados contra o vírus da hepatite B
