Burnout e o trabalho docente

Abstract

Este trabalho de conclusão de curso (TCC) objetivou discutir o adoecimento mental em docentes, com foco na Síndrome de Burnout, um distúrbio psicológico caracterizado pelo esgotamento físico e emocional, frequentemente associado ao ambiente de trabalho. A metodologia consistiu em uma revisão bibliográfica sistematizada de 11 artigos científicos publicados nos últimos cinco anos, selecionados a partir de buscas nas bases SciELO e Google Acadêmico com os descritores "síndrome de burnout and docente" e "síndrome de burnout and professores". A análise desses estudos revelou que o Burnout não é resultado de fragilidade individual, mas sim um fenômeno ocupacional e sociopolítico intimamente ligado às condições de trabalho, à sobrecarga laboral e à ausência de apoio institucional. Os resultados foram organizados em seis eixos temáticos principais, que abrangem desde as causas (sobrecarga, intensificação tecnológica) e os efeitos na saúde (ansiedade, depressão, exaustão emocional, uso de medicamentos), até a alta vulnerabilidade do grupo docente (com índices de Burnout que superam 40%) e a maior suscetibilidade de mulheres docentes. Por fim, o trabalho discutiu a importância da temática e as estratégias de prevenção e enfrentamento, reforçando a urgência de políticas de cuidado, valorização profissional e mudanças estruturais nas instituições escolares para promover o bem-estar dos professores

This undergraduate thesis (TCC) aimed to discuss mental illness among teachers, focusing on Burnout Syndrome, a psychological disorder characterized by physical and emotional exhaustion, frequently associated with the work environment. The methodology consisted of a systematized literature review of 11 scientific articles published in the last five years, selected through searches in the SciELO and Google Scholar databases using the descriptors “burnout syndrome and teachers” and “burnout syndrome and teaching professionals.” The analysis of these studies revealed that Burnout is not the result of individual weakness, but rather an occupational and sociopolitical phenomenon closely related to working conditions, excessive workload, and the lack of institutional support. The results were organized into six main thematic categories, covering the causes (work overload, technological intensification) and the effects on health (anxiety, depression, emotional exhaustion, medication use), as well as the high vulnerability of the teaching profession (with Burnout rates exceeding 40%) and the greater susceptibility of women teachers. Finally, the study discussed the importance of the topic and the strategies for prevention and coping, reinforcing the urgency of care policies, professional appreciation, and structural changes within educational institutions to promote teachers’ well-being
