Ressignificar: upcycling e afeto

Abstract

Este projeto tem como objetivo o desenvolvimento de uma peça de vestuário utilizando a técnica de upcycling, por meio de peças afetivas que, muitas vezes, se encontram em desuso ou esquecidas. A proposta consiste, através do redesign, em ressignificar essas peças, preservando suas memórias e incentivando seu uso contínuo, promovendo a criação de novas lembranças e atribuindo-lhes uma nova identidade, ao mesmo tempo em que se valoriza o seu passado. Alinhado aos princípios da sustentabilidade e do movimento slow fashion, o projeto busca inspirar práticas conscientes relacionadas ao descarte de roupas. A pesquisa é estruturada em dois eixos principais: um teórico, para fundamentação e compreensão dos conceitos abordados, e outro prático, no qual o estudo é aplicado por meio do upcycling de roupas afetivas. Ao final, a peça resultante propõe a conservação da essência material da roupa original, preservando elementos que remetem à sua forma inicial, como os bolsos, ao mesmo tempo em que incorpora novos detalhes que refletem a identidade do novo usuário. Esse processo revitaliza a jaqueta, conferindo-lhe uma nova vida, transformando o ato de vestir em um exercício de memória e construção de novos significados, além de prolongar a vida útil das peças.

This project aims to develop a garment using the upcycling technique through sentimental pieces that are often unused or forgotten. The proposal involves redesigning these pieces to reframe their purpose, preserving their memories, and encouraging their continued use. This process fosters the creation of new memories while attributing a new identity to the garments, simultaneously valuing their past. Aligned with the principles of sustainability and the slow fashion movement, the project seeks to inspire conscious practices related to clothing disposal. The research is structured around two main axes: a theoretical one, to provide the foundation and understanding of the concepts discussed, and a practical one, where the study is applied through the upcycling of sentimental garments. In the end, the resulting piece aims to conserve the material essence of the original clothing, preserving elements that reflect its initial form, such as the pockets, while incorporating new details that reflect the identity of the new user. This process revitalizes the jacket, giving it a new life and transforming the act of dressing into an exercise in memory and the construction of new meanings, while also extending the lifespan of the garments.
