Análise geográfica do comércio e dos serviços em Botucatu/SP: uma contribuição para o estudo do setor terciário

Abstract

Commerce is a social and economic activity that has passed through all the existing production ways. Thus, in the current period of capitalism it is expanding its elf more and more. This economical sector is geographically distinguished when its organization and social relation with the entire society are studied, which has been going through big changes due to industrialization, urbanization, globalization and technological development reaching the restructuration itself in many different levels, i.e. fusions, acquirement, bankruptcy, horizontal growth, logistics and others. Commercial activities and services has become more complex day by day, and involves roles directly linked to the urban dynamics - which can become inductors to regional development. To analyze the social and the economical third sector in the civic space of Botucatu/SP and its configuration on the regional centrality, searching for the main factors that provides the commercial development and growth in town, its distribution, and recent geographic space function, thus, also the population displacement within the micro-regions on the consumption of goods and services, adding to the debate about the economic circuits theory, the spaces interaction and the geographical studies of the subcontracting process.
