Abstract

It brings the realization of cultural actions at municipal public libraries, by practice's comparative study from Goiania and Sao Paulo. Per literature's revise of the theme, it explores the role of public library as a leisure and entertainment's promoter vehicle. As from this approach, it inquires two different cases: from municipal public libraries at Goiania and from the Municipal System of Libraries of Sao Paulo. In a methodological way, the descriptive research has been used a questionnaire as an instrument of gathering, applied to responsible librarians for the two public libraries of Goiania and the ones responsible for the eleven thematic public libraries of Sao Paulo that are part of the System. To close it with a counterpoint about the development of cultural actions in relation to both distinct realities investigated, such as the unities at Sao Paulo are more focused at this type of actions than the ones at Goiania.
