This work is linked to the search line Public Policy, School Organisation and Teacher Training, in the Post-Graduation in Education, in the Faculty of Science and Technology of the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), Presidente Prudente campus - SP. This work is an analysis of the current Official Curriculum of Geography for Elementary School Cycle II in São Paulo, with the purpose of reflecting on the importance of school Geographical Concepts, inserted in the Official Curriculum document of the State of São Paulo (COESP). The research was directed towards an investigation of the Geography Curriculum contextualizing Geographical Concepts and changes in the state education. Thus, analysis of curriculum theories was performed in a debate that included the various conceptions of curriculum, Geography and its teaching, focus on understanding the methodological theoretical perspective inserted in the material, beyond the understanding of its genesis and implications contained in the educational policy process in relation to this new Curriculum. Esta dissertação está vinculada à linha de pesquisa “Políticas Públicas, Organização Escolar e Formação de Professores”, do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação da Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), campus de Presidente Prudente – SP. Este trabalho consiste numa análise do Currículo Oficial de Geografia vigente para o Ensino Fundamental Ciclo II no Estado de São Paulo, com objetivo de refletir sobre a importância dos Conceitos Geográficos escolares, inseridos no documento Currículo Oficial do Estado de São Paulo (COESP). A pesquisa foi direcionada para uma investigação do Currículo de Geografia contextualizando os Conceitos Geográficos e as mudanças na educação paulista. Com isso, foi realizada análise das teorias curriculares, dentro de um debate que incluiu as diversas concepções de currículo, de Geografia e seu ensino, objetivando compreender a perspectiva teórica metodológica inserida no material, além da compreensão de sua gênese e as implicações contidas no processo político educativo em relação a esse novo Currículo.
