Águas turvas: terra e água se confundem no Espírito Santo do Turvo

Abstract

The present work consists of a reportage book that tells a story of the city of Espírito Santo do Turvo, from the perspective of the development of its economic activities, since the deforestation of its lands by bandeirantes, through its recent political emancipation and until the end of 2017, as the cycles of agricultural and livestock production are mainly responsible for permanence of residents in this region. However, the records of this history are few and, thus emerge the desire of present for the future generations and the academic community this small city of the interior of São Paulo, built mainly, from the work of the descendants of the first residents and of the migrants who found the stability they were looking for

O presente trabalho consiste em um livro-reportagem que conta a história do município de Espírito Santo do Turvo a partir da perspectiva do desenvolvimento de suas atividades econômicas, desde o desbravamento de suas terras pelos bandeirantes, passando pela sua recente emancipação política e até o final de 2017, já que os fatores responsáveis pela permanência de moradores na região foram os ciclos de produção agrícola e pecuária. Porém, os registros dessa história são escassos e com isso nasce o desejo de apresentar às gerações futuras e à comunidade acadêmica essa pequena cidade do interior paulista construída, sobretudo, a partir do trabalho de descendentes dos primeiros moradores e dos migrantes que ali encontraram a estabilidade que estavam à procura
