This paper proposes a design methodology and shows the main simulation and experimental results for a Wireless Power Transmission (WPT) system, applied to pure Electric Vehicles (EV), using Induced Power Transfer (IPT). The WPT element is composed by a transmitter and an energy receiver with weak magnetic coupling among them (less than 30%), considering a near -field energy -transfer method (less than 20 cm). The modeling was derived from inductors with cylindrical spiral shape. The WPT element is fed by a PWM resonant converter with high efficiency (up to 86%). Furthermore, an important contribution presented in this paper is the analysis and design of arrangements for the inductive elements of WPT. Experimental and theoretical results are shown for a small scale prototype of 1150W, in order to validate the proposed methodology and system, considering wireless energy transfer with 30mm gap.
